- 2:00 PM1h 30mAI-Augmented Reading: Rethinking Reading, Annotation, and Discussion in Our ClassroomsAs AI becomes more deeply embedded in how students interact with texts, educators face an opportunity to rethink how we teach reading, annotation, and discussion. This hands-on workshop introduces faculty to Google's NotebookLM, a powerful AI tool for inquiry-based reading, alongside familiar social annotation platforms like Perusall and Hypothes.is. Together, we'll explore how AI can support—not replace—critical engagement with course materials. Participants will gain fluency with these tools and walk away with practical strategies for redesigning traditional “read-and-respond” assignments. Whether you're teaching philosophy, literature, science, or professional writing, you’ll leave with ideas and examples to help students read more actively, question more deeply, and collaborate more thoughtfully. Facilitators:Alex Ambrose, Program Director of Assessment and Analytics, Kaneb Center for Teaching ExcellenceKevin Abbott, Academic Tech Specialist, Kaneb Center for Teaching Excellence, Teaching & Learning Technologies
