    <strong><em>“And is Only Raining”: post-catastrophic Irelands in contemporary fiction</em></strong>
    <a href="https://irishstudies.nd.edu/scholars/visiting-scholars/visiting-faculty-fellows/aran-ward-sell/">Dr Aran Ward Sell</a> is W. B. Yeats Fellow in Irish literature at the Keough-Naughton Institute for Irish Studies, based in the Department of English. His work has appeared in <em>Irish Studies Review</em>, <em>C21 Literature</em>, <em>Alluvium</em>, <em>HJEAS</em>, <em>Antae</em> and elsewhere, and at conferences in the UK, Malta and Belgium. He holds a PhD from the University of Edinburgh.
    He specializes in contemporary modernist, experimental and “weird” fiction, and the aftermaths of economic and environmental crisis. In this talk he will introduce himself to the department, and discuss recent fictional Irelands ravaged by the aftermaths of anthropogenic crisis, focusing on Danny Denton’s debut novel <em>The Earlie King and the Kid in Yellow</em> (2018).
