Join us for Open Studio, a monthly drop-in program designed to help you connect with your creative side. This program encourages participants to engage—in guided or freestyle ways—with materials inspired by the themes, techniques, and media of a featured work of art. This season, we’ll focus on Ephiphanic Mass (Epitaph) by Julie Mehretu. Each month there will be a different project, allowing for new ways to connect with this work. This drop-in tour will introduce you to your new Raclin Murphy Museum of Art. Join a student gallery teacher or a member of the Museum staff to explore the architecture of the building through some of its most unique spaces, revisit familiar favorites from the collection, and discover works of art on view for the first time. Meet at the Welcome Desk. No registration is required, but each tour is limited to twenty participants. This tour will explore all gallery levels of the Museum. Two-time Grammy nominee for Best Classical Vocal Solo Album, soprano Laura Strickling and Notre Dame's own critically acclaimed pianist Daniel Schlosberg embark on a journey through American art song, featuring works by masters of 20th and 21st-century vocal repertoire. Through their landmark 40@40 song commissioning project, they endeavor to add to the modern song canon, bringing world premiere performances. Good communication is a key element of any relationship, and a mentoring relationship is noexception. This session is designed to provide scholars with the knowledge and skills to: 1)communicate effectively across diverse dimensions; 2) accept and use constructive feedback; 3)identify different communication styles; and 4) use multiple strategies for improving communication. Anxiety Toolbox is a 3- part structured psychoeducational workshop designed to inform students on the cognitive, behavioral, and physiological impacts of anxiety. The sessions include modules dedicated to: (1) understanding anxiety, (2) introducing a method for slowing down and disentangling the experience of anxiety, and (3) developing alternative responses to anxiety. By the end of the workshop, students will have their own individualized plan for managing anxiety. Students will be expected to complete homework (e.g., Cross Sectional Formulations, practicing deep breathing) in between sessions. Facilitator: Jordan Jonson, Ph. D.
