After being mired in development hell, 28 Days Later arrives later than expected but clears the timeframe by a hefty five years. Arguably the most popular zombie franchise of this century, 28 Days Later brings the rage virus action back (and will return again in January with its shot-back-to-back sequel). - 9:30 PM1h 35mFilm: "The Return of the Living Dead" (1985)Classics in the BrowningDirected by Dan O'BannonWith Clu Gulager, James Karen, Don CalfaRated R, 91 minutes, Blu-rayIf a co-worker at the Uneeda Medical Supply Warehouse ever tries to impress you by showing you military drums of Trioxin he found in the basement, then do your best not to spill them because if you do, then the living dead might just return. Spun from a book written by John Russo, the co-writer of Night of the Living Dead with George A. Romero, The Return of the Living Dead added a very dated 80s sensibility to the franchise with its punk aesthetic and solid soundtrack. Beyond that, the plot focuses on a very Romero-esque storyline that follows a ragtag group of the living thrown together in hopes of surviving the wrath of reanimated corpses.
