Within the University’s School of Architecture research priorities align with traditional building design, urbanism, environmental design, materials, and information technology, as well as the history, theory, and practice of architecture. The School’s leading-edge research includes using laser scanners to document World Heritage Sites, such as the Taj Mahal and the Roman Forum, the implications of the design of the built environment on mental and physical health, “Katrina Cottages,” and more. Through their research outputs and scholarly endeavor, Notre Dame’s Architecture faculty are combining time-tested techniques with cutting-edge technologies to build a future at once more humane, functional, sustainable, and beautiful.
