As luck would have it, Luke inadvertently stumbles upon a convention of witches. The Grand High Witch (Oscar-winner Anjelica Huston) reveals a plan to turn all children into mice through a magical formula. As bad luck would have it, the witches realize that Luke has overheard their ruinous plot and test the formula on him. Now, with the help of Helga and the hotel manager, Mr. Stringer (Rowan Atkinson), Luke the mouse must fight back against the witches and save kids worldwide from a murine fate. Her mother compulsively fills the house with items she finds on the streets of Seoul while her veteran father devours books about the war. The filmmaker's encounter with a North Korean defector mirrors the story of her grandfather, who likely stayed in the North when the country became divided, never to be seen again by his family.
