- Apr 133:00 PMFilm: "A Night to Remember" (1958)Largely considered by historians to be one of the most accurate filmic accounts of the sinking of the Titanic, A Night to Remember was based on the famed book of the same name by Walter Lord. Similar to Titanic (1997), the money required to film an ocean disaster epic was sizable; A Night to Remember was the most expensive film made in Britain at its time. That money went to a team of technical advisers who used primary sources to create heightened realism through authentic sets. Beyond the technical achievements, A Night to Remember has a novel approach in telling the story largely through the lens of Charles Lightoller (Kenneth More), who served as the second officer on the RMS Titanic.
