We are privileged to welcome to our area two prominent musicians from Poland to present a pre-concert lecture and concert in our area. The musicians are Dr. Waclaw Golonka, Professor of Organ from the Academy of Music in Krakow; and doctoral candidate Wojceich Kwiatek, who is conductor of the Polish National Wind Ensemble. They will present music through the centuries for their instruments from Central Poland, and organ solo: Guilmant's Finale from Sonata in D minor, Op. 42, No. 1. Ken Ludwig's The Game's Afoot Presented by Notre Dame Film, Television, and Theatre Directed by Carolyn Dell '26 It is December 1936, and Broadway star William Gillette, admired the world over for his leading role in the play Sherlock Holmes, has invited his fellow cast members to his Connecticut castle for a weekend of revelry. But when one of the guests is stabbed to death, the festivities in this isolated house of tricks and mirrors quickly turn dangerous. The danger and hilarity are non-stop in this relentlessly entertaining comedy set during the Christmas holidays. Many ways exist to give shape to the phenomenon that was Frozen, from the $1,250,000,000 it grossed at the box office to its fast adaptation to a theme park ride and Broadway musical. Perhaps most telling is the sheer volume of folks who can sing the soundtrack with little baiting. As such, our screening will be the sing-along version of Frozen so warm up those pipes for a group karaoke experience. Nothing else is added to the story known well other than the lyrics as subtitles; it's still sisters Anna (Kristen Bell) and Elsa (Idina Menzel) trapped in an unending winter with Anna venturing with Kristoff (Jonathan Groff) and friends to break the spell keeping them below zero. This drop-in tour will introduce you to your new Raclin Murphy Museum of Art. Join a student gallery teacher or a member of the Museum staff to explore the architecture of the building through some of its most unique spaces, revisit familiar favorites from the collection, and discover works of art on view for the first time. Meet at the Welcome Desk. No registration is required, but each tour is limited to twenty participants. This tour will explore all gallery levels of the Museum. Although the tour will keep moving between spaces, gallery stools are available upon request.

Christopher Holman presents eight centuries of organ music from the Roman Catholic tradition, performed on the tremendous Murdy Family Organ in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart in broadly chronological order. From the earliest written keyboard music (Robertsbridge Codex, c. 1360) through British composer Caitlin Harrison's 2022 chorale prelude on the Dominican Order's Salve Regina, the program will feature music by J.S. Bach, Charles-Marie Widor, Dieterich Buxtehude, Sor María Clara de Oaxaca, Elisabeth Lutyens, works from the time of the American Revolution, and more, demonstrating how the organ, as Widor famously said, can truly bring about a "vision of eternity." https://performingarts.nd.edu/event/17100/christopher-holman-organ/
