- Aug 247:30 PMTheater: "As You Like It" (Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival 2024)As You Like ItBy William ShakespeareDirected by Sara Holdren BUY TICKETS The rules of romance are upended in As You Like It, a gloriously entertaining romantic comedy that gleefully interrogates traditional notions of gender, politics, and love. Shakespeare’s dizzying mash-up of romantic escapades, disguised lovers, and mistaken identities amuses and entertains as much as it provokes and challenges. As You Like It is brought to life by the Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival’s Professional Company, under the direction of Sara Holdren, a multitalented theatrical director who’s also been a regular theatre critic for New York Magazine. Fast, funny, and engaging, As You Like It promises to be a delightful night of theatrical entertainment. Banished to the idyllic forest of Arden, irrepressible heroine Rosalind seeks to restore her long-exiled father to his rightful place as ruler, while romantically entangled with the put-upon hero Orlando. As a merry cast of characters fall in and out of love (and in and out of disguise), Rosalind strives to restore the harmony of her world -- and reclaim her family’s stature.
