Description: As generative AI becomes increasingly integrated into student work, faculty face new challenges in maintaining academic integrity while leveraging AI as a learning tool. This workshop combines survey insights, practical strategies, and assignment design principles to help faculty navigate AI use in written assignments with transparency and integrity. We will explore recent Notre Dame survey data on first-year students' attitudes toward AI in writing, discuss ethical challenges, and examine how faculty can design clear and fair AI usage policies. Additionally, we will introduce the Generative AI Acceptable Use Scale and the Transparent by Design framework to help faculty create assignments that foster ethical AI engagement. Join us for a conversation inspired by our solo temporary exhibition by Clarissa Tossin. All That You Touch, You Change, whose title is drawn from Octavia Butler’s novel Parable of the Sower, challenges us to confront systemic issues, the fate of our environment, and the power of change, while showcasing artwork that echoes these themes. This gathering invites readers of the novel to come together and explore its themes in the context of Clarissa Tossin’s work. Through discussion, we will examine how the novel's core ideas intersect with the visual language and concepts in the exhibition. Whether you're looking to deepen your understanding of the book, connect with others who share your interest in literature and art, or engage with the exhibition in a new and meaningful way, this book club session is an opportunity to expand your perspective on both the novel and the exhibition inspired by it. What is Pansori Singing? Pansori is a form of Korean traditional storytelling through singing (or storysinging) where the singer's voice delivers stories in the nineteenth century Korean speech and song. 2025 Korean Studies Lecture and Performance Details: Dr. Chan Park brings her art and scholarship of Pansori to this Korean Studies Lecture and Performance. Join the discussion including: the essential nature of pansori singing as “voice theatre,” and its survival in the technology-worshipping and ageistic popular culture, and more. Park also presents her bilingual adaptation of an excerpt of Sugungga, Song of Water Palace, one of the five classical repertories making up the fundamentals of pansori singing today.
