From Associate Dean Ernest Morrell:

I am writing to share our deep gratitude for Tom Burman’s many years of exceptional service as the Director of the Medieval Institute. As many of you know, Tom’s leadership and dedication have been integral to the success and growth of the institute. His contributions have left an indelible mark, and his commitment to fostering a collaborative, vibrant community has enriched all of us.

Over the years, Tom has not only provided outstanding leadership but has also been a trusted mentor and a steady guiding force. His expertise, vision, and tireless work have helped shape the direction of the Medieval Institute, and we are deeply grateful for all that he has done.

As Tom transitions out of his role, we want to recognize and thank him for his years of hard work, passion, and commitment. Please join me in extending our heartfelt appreciation to him for his extraordinary service.

Looking ahead, I am pleased to announce that CJ Jones will be stepping in as the next Director of the Medieval Institute. CJ brings a wealth of experience and a strong vision for our future. However, as CJ will be on leave next academic year, Jeff Wickes will serve as Interim Director during that time. I am confident that both CJ and Jeff will continue the Medieval Institute’s success and lead us forward.

Please join me in expressing our thanks to Tom and welcoming CJ and Jeff into their new roles.

Warm regards,

Ernest Morrell

From the MI community: welcome, Professor Wickes as interim director and Professor Jones as the incoming director!
