Built in 1957 and refurbished in 1987, the North Dining Hall is home to one of three Grind2Energy (G2E) food waste systems that collects prep scraps and uneaten food that cannot be donated into its Grind2Energy (G2E) system for anaerobic digestion that is used to power a local dairy farm. G2E reduces non-consumable food waste from entering the landfill and prevents methane emissions, a potent greenhouse gas emitted from decomposing food. The South Dining Hall and CCE are home to the remaining two G2E locations.
