This summer, we’re celebrating a decade of creativity and rhythm with Merrimans’ Playhouse—and you’re invited! Enjoy amazing live performances, special experiences, and fantastic food and drinks all season long.   Bring a blanket or lawn chair (limited seating will be available on the Terrace), relax under the sun, and let the music move you in this one-of-a-kind setting. Ivan’s Cafe will have tasty food and non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase. Oh Mamma’s will be selling scrumptious small plates perfect for snacking, and Perry Vine will be pouring delicious meads and wines for purchase by the glass or bottle. It’s only fitting that Stephen and Mary Merriman kick off the first performance of our tenth summer together! This performance will highlight their enjoyment of one of jazz's most valued traditions—the open session, a format that nurtures not only the active player but also the active listener. The ensemble features Stephen Merriman on drums, Mary Merriman on bass, Stefan Hess on piano, Don Lerman on saxophone, Todd Neuenschwander on tenor saxophone, Max Wilfinger on trumpet, and maybe a guest or two sitting in. Designed to help children develop their visual and verbal literacy skills, Artful Storytime is a partnership with the St. Joseph County Public Library. Each Artful Storytime includes stories, songs, artwork explorations, art-making, and more! They say that April showers bring May flowers! We’ll search the galleries for spring blooms and have plenty of time to stop and smell the roses. This program is best for families with children ages 4 to 6. This drop-in tour will introduce you to your Raclin Murphy Museum of Art. Join a student gallery teacher or a member of the Museum staff to explore the architecture of the building through some of its most unique spaces and discover works of art that are highlights of the collection. Meet at the Welcome Desk. All are welcome and no registration is required. This tour will explore all gallery levels of the Museum. Although the tour will keep moving between spaces, gallery stools are available upon request.

Vesak, also known as Buddha Jayanti or Buddha Purnima, is the most important religious festival in Buddhism, commemorating the birth, enlightenment, and death (parinirvana) of Gautama Buddha, the founder of Buddhism. It is celebrated by Buddhists worldwide on the full moon day in the month of Vesakha (usually in May). Vesak is observed with various religious and cultural activities, including chanting of sutras, offering alms to monks, meditation, and acts of generosity and kindness.

Self-efficacy is the perceived confidence people have in their ability to perform. Increasing your research self-efficacy can increase the likelihood that you will successfully perform tasks, pursue a research career, and make important contributions to your field. This session is designed to provide scholars the knowledge and skills to: 1) define self-efficacy and it sources; 2) identify signs of self-efficacy; 3) build your own self-efficacy; 4) assess the influence of others on your research self-efficacy; and 5) devise strategies to support others’ research self-efficacy.
