The Amur corktree has a cork-like bark that fully develops with age. As the trunk further matures, it develops deeply furrowed crevices, appearing as cork and having a spongy feel. Due to this unique bark, it is commonly planted in urban areas. Its scientific name is “Phellodendron amurse,” with “Phello” referring to cork in Greek and “dendron” tree.
