This semester, students in Professor Jennifer Huynh’s Immigrant America course were part of the inaugural semester of volunteers for One More Citizen, a non-profit that prepares members of the local community to take the U.S. citizenship test.

ND Students working with citizenship class

The students have worked hard to support as many members of the community in the best way possible and have been successful in reaching and teaching between 31 and 36 citizenship students each week. As a result of their dedication, 18 students have expressed their readiness for their naturalization interview and exam. We are so proud of all the volunteers for their commitment to being a force for good in the world.

We are happy to announce that students in Immigrant America next semester will also have the same opportunity to work with this wonderful organization. Citizenship classes will start again on February 5, 2024, and run through April 10, 2024. They will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30pm-7:30pm at St. Casimir parish school. If you’d like to be part of this, visit http://www.onemorecitizen.org/ to learn more about the organization and register for Professor Huynh’s class!
