Deadline to apply for the Global Catholic Research Initiative's Catalyst and Amplification Grants
A key element of the University’s Strategic Framework, the Global Catholic Research Initiative (GCRI) works to establish Notre Dame as the preeminent hub for research on Global Catholicism by fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, global partnerships, and scholarship on Catholicism as a dynamic global tradition.
GCRI invites proposals for two grant programs:Catalyst Grants: Support new projects related to the study of Global Catholicism, including research initiatives, workshops, conferences, and course development
Amplification Grants: Support established projects that seek to broaden their intellectual, collaborative, or global reach, including through global partnerships or engagement with Catholic thought and institutions.Funding across both programs may support activities such as:archival research and translation
research assistants (graduate or undergraduate)
workshops and conferences
global research partnerships
course development
travel connected to research or collaborationThis grant opportunity is open to Notre Dame faculty, postdoctoral scholars, and graduate students from any discipline whose work engages the study of Global Catholicism and aligns with the mission of the Global Catholic Research Initiative.
Catalyst Grants: $5,000–$25,000
Amplification Grants: $3,000–$5,000
Funding may be awarded for one to two years beginning in Academic Year 2026–27. The application deadline is June 15, 2026.
